Women’s reproductive organs and endometriosis

Endometriosis is a disease that affects the women’s reproductive organs. The symptoms of this disease will include severe pain in the pelvic area on regular basis, and irregular and heavy menstrual periods. There are other symptoms which include tenderness and painful bowel movements and diarrhea; however, these symptoms can be the common cause of some many other digestive disorders that diagnosis of endometriosis because of these symptoms alone is almost impossible.

Endometriosis is basically a tissue growth in the women’s reproductive organs which is not cancerous in 95 percent of the cases. For some reason the body is unable to dispose of all the blood which is supposed to be shed at the time of the periods and this forms a layer in the vagina and the uterine walls and anywhere in the reproductive organs. These tissues grow outside of the uterus and it can also affect the abdomen, intestines and bladder and kidneys. On very rare cases in has been found to even exist in the lungs, skin and some nerves as well.

Over all,  the functions of the reproductive system don’t seem to get affected by this tissue grown and you continue to ovulate and your hormonal system seems to be working in the right direction all the time, however, due to this tissue formation, conception will not be possible and endometriosis is one of the causes of infertility.

The tissue formation can form scars in the uterus and the vagina or any other reproductive organ that affect the plantation of the eggs, and if not treated this may lead to permanent infertility. Not only that, the scar formations can spread to all the other parts of the reproductive system creating a tumor which will be very painful and which will have to be removed with surgery only.

There is a lot of research done on the causes and symptoms of endometriosis and on the cure of the disease. Early detention of this disease is the best option. Therefore if you find yourself having any unusual pains which are increasing in severity especially at the time of your period, we suggest that you consult your doctor and get proper advice on your condition before it forms into something more painful and complicated.

Surgery for removing endometriosis is done through laparoscopy and it is a very simple and safe operation. After the tissue has been removed from the vagina and or walls, you will immediately feel the difference in your period pains. Also, as it is a major cause for infertility, your doctor may want to do a laparoscopy test to make sure you are not suffering from endometriosis before going on to more complicated methods to diagnose the actual reasons for your infertility.

Women’s reproductive system is a very complicated and delicate mechanism which needs to be taken care on regular basis to maintain good health. A healthy lifestyle and nutrition can avoid many of these problems and you should always aim at making your life as healthy as possible.
