Deep Vein Thrombosis or DVT is a condition where the veins of the calf or thighs are not flowing at the speed that they need to and consequently they start to form clots in the blood system. This is not a common disease and you will find a case in thousands, however, it has also been found that if these clots travel through the blood system, they can become dangerous to the person.
The most complicated cases of Deep Vein thrombosis seen are those of people who have had respiratory problems due to the clots travelling to the lungs and blocking the respiratory track in the process. However, these cases are extremely rare. Unfortunately, this can lead to death.
The causes of deep vein thrombosis are not fully known however, lack of exercise and long periods of sitting while working may be considered to be one of the major causes of this disease. Some studies have shown that people that don’t take breaks from their computers are prone to getting deep vein thrombosis.
One of the simplest ways to avoid any kind of problems related to sitting in one place for a long period of time is to take periodic breaks and to take the opportunity to stretch yourself, do some simple exercises, take your eyes away from the computer screen, and try to relax. A balance in your working conditions can help keep your system balanced.
You can also develop the habit of doing some foot exercises while you are sitting at your desk, to allow the blood to flow in a balanced manner. Simple rotation of the ankles and movements of the toes will be very good for you.
