Gout is a type of arthritis which affects the joints of the lower limbs, specially the knees, ankles and toes of the feet. Due to the inability of the kidney to flush extra uric acid from the system, this acid then concentrates on the joints and it affects them. The joins become swollen, tender and the pain can be very unbearable.

There are some basic measures that you can take to prevent these kinds of painful forms of arthritis from affecting your body and some of them include taking care of your body weight. Most people that suffer from gout are obese. However, you have to make sure you are losing weight gradually, as losing weight very fast can also lead to overdoses of uric acid in your system and you will again be putting yourself at risk.

Diabetic patients have a very strong risk of getting gout because of the extra uric acid on their medications. Therefore trying to avoid having diabetes is the best remedy; however, if you are a diabetic, you can also try to control your blood sugar with more natural remedies like proper diet, exercise and taking care of your stress levels.

Try to avoid red meats and organs like liver on your diet. These foods contain high doses of uric acid and they will affect your gout. Some kinds of fish also contain high amounts of uric acid and some leafy vegetables like spinach.

Avoid drinking alcohol at all times. Even consumption of beer can be very dangerous for people suffering from gout and you should take all precautions to avoid further complications.

Drinking plenty of water can be very beneficial as the kidneys will get the opportunity to flush and clean themselves of the extra uric acid that they are producing. Dehydration is not good for your system and it can trigger a gout attack easily.

Other researches also mention that it is good for men to have a normal sexual life to avoid attacks of gout. Sexual activities help reduce uric acid in the system.

Take proper care of your body, and especially of your feet. Wear protective shoes in your home and try to keep them healthy at all times.
