Rheumatoid arthritis is the name of a disease related to the joints. The symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis are basically inflammation of the joint, muscles and ligaments and the pain can be so excruciating that movement can become very difficult.
Rheumatoid arthritis will affect the persons joints by inflammation then it will start to affect the cartilages and the ligaments and in later cases it can even damage the cartilages altogether, making it totally impossible for the patient to be able to walk around on his own. This disease affects women more than men.
Since understanding the symptoms of any disease is not easy and you may get confused between a normal sprain and something as complicated as rheumatoid arthritis, it is recommended to always consult your doctor when you find yourself having any kind of pains, no matter how insignificant they seem to you are that moment. Also, taking pain killers from a medical store may create complications that you don’t want to tackle latter on. Once the disease reaches certain stage, it becomes chronic and there is nothing that you can do to reverse the symptoms.
Once you have gone beyond certain stage, it may be even necessarily for you to undergo surgery, which can be very painful, time taking and expensive.
Try and keep a good body weight as much as possible. Obesity does not help anyone in any manner. Take advice from your doctor on your diet and fitness regime and get your physiotherapist to give you advice if you find to be having problems with your joints on regular basis.
