Collagen is a fibrous protein found in our bones, cartilage and tissues and which helps strengthen the tendon and vast and the sheets that support the skin and all the internal organs of the human body. Excess of collagen in any part of the body is considered a disease which is called Scleroderma.

Collagen needs to be part of every tissue of the system in order for it to function properly. Some parts of the body like the bones and teeth are actually the combination of mineral crystals and collagen.

Scleroderma is basically a disease of the skin, and it manifests in the form of hardening of the skin and it may have a reddish look also. However, considering the area of damage is extremely important because the greater the area the further the risks of the damage spreading into the body and affecting the tissue of the organs of that part of the body. For example if the rash like symptoms is spreading on a limb, you may actually be having internal problems with the bone and muscle of the limb and this is not a favorable situation.

Also, if the area affected is around your lungs, you will need to take care that this is not affecting them in any manner. Internal scaring is also very dangerous as it cannot be seen from the outside.
